Fifth Entry

The social and political context that embodies our country have been going through hard times in the last decades. We have faced not only economical, social and political problems inside our country but also the problems from our neighbor countries which can propend for the creation of some social problems as migration is. This topic is a matter that concerns our present more than our future. Actually there are many citizens from Venezuela making big efforts at out traffic lights, or wandering thought out our country trying to get somewhere to sleep or something to eat. Some of them try even harder to stablish themselves into any of Colombia's cities, and so, it means they have to start a process of adapting to our culture, manners, customs and laws. Their children, also, must go to our schools and our responsibility as institutions and professionals of education is to understand carefully and deeply this social problem, which is not new at all. Inside our own country masses have been removed constantly from their original lands, having to abandon what they are used to, their belongings, and the people they know and love. Also, the world itself has had many migration waves. We cannot appeal to this problem like is somethin new, anyway, each migration has its own particular history and background. That is why we have, as teachers, be comprehensive in the processes that students can have troubled to start or develop at school. They are probably not used to our didactics, methods and approaches. Also our classrooms can either surprise or scare them, we must be careful with what we said and most importantly we have to help them have their right to learn, even if the start is hard and has osbstacles. Many of the best learnings upon a lot of challenges I have faced, is the realization that theory it is itself, the refutation we can make by observing and practicing it.
