Fourth Entry

As English day comes forth, recycling is a concept professor and the school are instilling to students from the very beginning. That is why they are planning every single detailing aspect of this day based on recycling, re using and reducing. This is great as it shows students the many stuff that can be done with used things that look useless. They have done great craftwork with recycling materials from necklaces to astronaut costumes which shows them a different and fun way to recycle. This day mixes students, professors, administratives and parents in a whole kind of fair based upon english and only english. It is nice to interact with everyone in this kind of activities because I believe it helps enhancing the interest of everyone on english not only as a diploma to improve a curriculum vitae but as a magnificent tool for discovering the world. In this day happen all kind of activities prepared from 1st grade to 11th and they have show offs, bazars, science demonstration, etc. that ...

Third Entry

First day with third graders. Professor Esperanza is an experiment teacher that will allow me to understand and overlook how class management has changed with the generational change among the teachers. She has this keen management of classroom that buys some time for actually developing classes effectively. Further, in this grade I started facing a hard reality that face our society and so on, our schools, venezuelan immigrants that start their new homes here in Colombia, which means that their sons must go to colombian schools regarding the universal right of education and helping for this new generations to soften the hard shot given by the political war and poorness at their home country. There is an student that most teacher say looks denourished and has a lack of attention. He is a nice boy, but as I am conscious of this situation I start understanding some of his attitudes. As teachers we must try to understand this social problems that affect the students of our schools and bas...

Second Entry

As my very first week of observing classes at school, I start individualizing some particular situations I have never faced before as the class management with students that have ADD. In the very first sight without grasping it, the situation profiles as very challenging and demanding as it is true that one student can deorganize a whole classroom. Anyway, what I have seen this far, I like the posibility of being able to learn from my pairs and major teachers how to deal with this kind of students that should not be ever considered as sick or marginal. They just need to be helped on finding an school perspective they can use as a rational reason for being compromised with their own learning process. This is why I pay special attention to those students' behaviours that are unveleing new for my pre-service formation. At this initial point I cannot describe specific learnings or take any kind of conclusions nevertheless expectatives are high enough to keep on paying attention to the ...

First entry; A broad description of the School.

The school I am practicing in is Called "Guadalupano de la Salle". It is located in Buenos Aires, a neighborhood on the east of Medellín compound by a wide diversity of socieconomical contexts that co-exist. The name of the school suggest the foundational stone for the pedagogy there practiced, which is merely christian but also focused on the human being and its development. Leadership, equity and innovation are the banner values for this educative establishment as it affirms to be a school prepared to tackle the inclusion problems given inside educative reality in Colombia. It is mixed and kind of personalized as there are only one group per grade where middle and upper groups would not achieve to have more than 15-18 students. Guadalupano de la Salle is based upon the pedagogical ideal given by the now saint Jean-Baptiste de La Salle a french priest and educational reformer founder of Christian Schools. This is managed on the comtemporary times by adapting the school to ne...
